Vacant Buildings

The Town of Brunswick has passed new legislation (Local Law No.1 of the year 2019) to more effectively deal with vacant buildings and the problems that vacant buildings present. As a result of this legislation, anyone who owns a vacant building (in the Town of Brunswick) must REGISTER their vacant building.

 

Vacant Building Fees

 

   Vacant Building Registration Form                            Local Law No. 1 of 2019

 

The owner of a vacant building shall pay an initial registration fee of $250. If the building remains vacant, each January 1st following the initial registration the owner shall pay an annual fee as follows:

  1. The fee for the first year shall be $1,000
  2. The fee for the second year shall be $1,500
  3. The fee for the third year shall be $2,500
  4. The fee for the fourth year shall be $3,500
  5. The fee for the fifth and each succeeding year shall be $5,000

 

Vacant building fees for buildings of 5,000 square feet or greater shall be doubled.
