Park and Beach
The Town of Brunswick acquired the
Vanderheyden and Brunswick Reservoirs, along with 60 acres of surrounding
land, on North Lake Avenue in 1967 and immediately took steps to develop
the site
as a recreational facility. The beach and the park first opened in July 1968,
and quickly attracted large crowds of Brunswickers. Over the years, the park
and the beach have been significantly improved and expanded, creating an
enjoyable recreational area in one of Brunswick’s loveliest natural settings.
While the park’s most popular attraction has traditionally been the beach,
town residents also visit the park for a variety
of outdoor activities including boating, picnicking, bird watching, fishing
and
photography.
The Brunswick Town Park and Beach are open for use by Brunswick residents only; passes are free of charge and must be obtained at the Town Office. Residents will be asked to provide proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, when requesting a pass. They will also have to produce either their vehicle registration or a copy.
Picnic tables, boats and grills are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in any area of the park or beach and it is expected visitors will follow posted regulations to ensure the safety of all users.
