In the early 19th century, local folks raced their horses on this stretch of roadway on Sunday afternoons. |

This stretch of Route 2 doesn't appear as lonely as it did 100 years ago; the Brittonkill District school complex, right, and Tamarac Plaza, left, are just two of the several facilities that have been built along this busy highway. |
