Junction of Pinewoods Avenue and Brunswick Road
Junction of Pinewoods Avenue and Brunswick Road, west of the Eagle Mills bridge, about 1900. Pinewoods Avenue was known as The Old Road when this photograph was taken. A small portion of the brick structure that once housed the Planter's Hoe Factory may be seen in the right foreground. The home at the point was built for the VanZandt family. About 1931, the house was moved back to permit the widening of Route 2. Adjacent structures were torn down or moved. |
The old hoe factory burned in 1911 when the fire that started in the Church of Christ, Disciples spread through the hamlet and trees shade the view of the old VanZandt house. |
