Dater House, Brunswick Road, Eagle Mills. This house was built about 1798 and has long been considered one of the area's outstanding examples of Federal period architecture. Its first owners were James and Mary Cox, who conveyed the property to Philip P. Dater, who served during the War of 1812, and had a large farm operation here. It has been said a cannon ball was found in the house. The house served as a tourist home, operated by the Sweet family, in the early 1900s. |
